Des Moines, IA and Toronto, ON
Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) – the largest water utility in Iowa, among the largest 100 utilities in the United States and recognized as an industry leader – has selected CIS Infinity, the customer information and utility billing solution by Advanced Utility Systems, a division of N. Harris Computer Corporation (Advanced). DMWW will implement CIS Infinity to bill water for approximately 90,000 accounts in the Greater Des Moines area.
As an industry leader, DMWW knew that due to the critical nature and ever-increasing complexity of the meter-to-cash process, it needed to replace its legacy customer information and utility billing system (CIS).
While their legacy system served DMWW well for many years, in recent years it had become antiquated. It was limited in its functionality, business rules were hard-coded and the technologies that supported it were outdated which posed potential maintenance and security concerns.
DMWW was aware of the rapid advancement of software capabilities within the CIS industry and completed a comprehensive multiyear procurement for a new CIS that included a Request for Information, Request for Proposal and product demonstrations.
“As we experienced Advanced in the selection process, it simply became apparent that CIS Infinity was the best fit for DMWW. We have long considered ourselves unique in the way we do business; however, the system is highly configurable and the company representatives were extremely knowledgeable and able to demonstrate how CIS Infinity would support our specific business processes,” said Amy Kahler, Director of Customer Service and Marketing for DMWW.
Ms. Kahler continues, “CIS Infinity is based on and supported by current and reliable technology. The user interface of CIS Infinity is user-friendly and adaptable . It felt like utility experts had developed the software, and the robust functionality resolves many of our current pain points. CIS Infinity checked virtually every box we had, and the decision to select Advanced was unanimous among our project team.”
Peter Fanous, Executive Vice President of Advanced, comments about DMWW joining the Advanced family: “From the moment we met the folks at DMWW, we knew right away that they were looking for something different; something that stood out from the rest; and something that would serve them well into the future. The power and adaptability of CIS Infinity is what separates us and is a major reason for DMWW’s selection of Advanced. I am proud to be adding another State Capital to our roster, to go along with other utilities that provide service to nation capitals as well as entire nations. We look forward to another successful implementation of CIS Infinity and a long partnership with DMWW.”
Mr. Fanous goes on to say, “Advanced was built on client references and has earned a reputation of delivering high-quality implementations. Our continued success is because of these strong endorsements, backed up by our proven track record of over 140 successful projects and our award-winning product suite and implementation methodology.”
