Multi-Service Billing & CIS
In 1999, Hometown Connectionsa subsidiary of the American Public
Power Associationconducted a rigorous evaluation of all leading
CIS solutions to assist the utility members in understanding the CIS market
space. Harris finished first out of the over 75 systems considered and
was further selected by Hometown Connections as their recommended CIS
solution to the over 2,000 utility members of the APPA.
Open competition is inevitable. At Harris, we're ready. We've developed
our software with the flexibility to meet the demands of improved services
and price restructuring.
The Utility Industry is under increasingly greater economic, technological
and competitive pressures. Relationships between providers and customers
are changing and being redefinedeven more so with the move to deregulation.
The challenge for management is to ensure that critical decisions are
based on the total business environment where financial management is
completely integrated with the organization's often complex operational
activities. To meet this challenge, Harris has developed a suite of applications
to assist the management of utility operations. At the heart of these
applications is the Multi-Service Management System.
Development
Harris' Multiple Services Management System far exceeds the expectations
of just a billing system. With the aid of several multiple services utilities,
Harris designed the system to provide utilities and municipalities with
the tools necessary to manage in a changing environment. Written to operate
in an Open Systems environment, the Electric, Water and Gas Utility Management
System was developed in a fourth generation language and utilizes a Relational
Database Management System. These features combine to provide the utility
with the flexibility necessary to meet the challengeswhether from
virtually unlimited rates or an unbundled structure or printing reports.
If you add the full ad-hoc query capabilities, the possibilities are endless.
