Introducing thenew MeterSense—

faster than everbefore and loaded with impressive new features

Ottawa, ON–May 1, 2013—Greater scalability, quickerdata processing and robust analytics tools are just a few of the features builtinto the new MeterSense, the latest version of Harris Utilities’ meter datamanagement (MDM) solution.

Upgradedto help utilities collect data faster and serve more customers than everbefore, the new MeterSense imports, cleanses and validates data up to seventimes faster than previous releases. The updated solution also includes anenhanced user interface for ease of operations, configurable dashboards toimprove workflows, streamlined customer service views for better access toaccount profiles, and improved reporting capabilities for even further informationanalysis. And for the first time, it can be scaled to serve as many as onemillion meters.

“Byproviding more accurate data in near-real time, the new MeterSense givesutilities the intelligence they need to respond to meter events, make better-informedoperational decisions and present usage data to consumers quicker than everbefore,” said Norm Daigle, Executive Vice President of Harris UtilitiesSmartWorks, the smart grid innovation engine of Harris Utilities that createdMeterSense. “Our advancement in scalability means that larger utilities will nowbe able to take advantage of MeterSense’s many powerful benefits to improvetheir smart grid infrastructure.”

Inaddition to such back-end improvements, developers have enhanced MeterSensewith a series of new tools. A forecasting module enables utilities to predictconsumption patterns, peak demand levels and demand contributors, while new analyticsfunctions—such as weather correlations, quantification and location of losses, and peak demand analysis with coincident peak and peak contributors—empower utilitiesto further study system performance.

“Moreand more utilities are turning to demand forecasting for their operational andfinancial planning needs,” said Daigle. “Accurate forecasts provide importantinsights that can inform procurement decisions, renewable energy strategies andpeak demand management strategies. The new MeterSense addresses suchrequirements and includes a host of new analytics tools that will helputilities derive even more intelligence from their meter data.”

Scalable, feature rich and faster than ever before, the new MeterSense is the nextevolution of the utility sector’s most trusted MDM solution.
