Press Release
HARRIS ANNOUNCES PURCHASE OF
BUSINESS ASSETS OF GO.EDU INC.
OTTAWA, ONTARIO—May 22, 2008 —Harris
Computer Systems (“Harris”), a leading provider of financial, customer and
student information management software solutions for utilities, local
governments and schools, today announced that it has completed the purchase
of the business assets of Go.edu, Inc(“Go.edu”).
As a result of the purchase, the Go.edu customers and staff will become part
of Harris’ K-12 business unit. The Go.edu staff will continue to operate
from their existing facilities in Wichita, Kansas.
“The acquisition of Go.edu represents a continuation of our strategy to
expand in the K-12 Education sector via both organic and acquired growth.
This is the second such acquisition completed during 2008.” said Jeff
Bender, CEO of Harris. “We welcome the Go.edu customers, employees and
products into the Harris family.”
“Over the last three years we have been focused on developing and deploying
our new SaaS Student Information system (SIS), Go.edustar, which was
selected as a 2008 CODiE finalist for Best K-12 Enterprise Solution. After
recently reviewing our strategic options, we determined that our plans for
growth could best be achieved by joining with a larger, national vendor. We
determined Harris to be the ideal home for both our product and employees.”
said Bob Worthington, CEO of Go.edu, Inc.
“This transaction significantly enhances our market presence in the Midwest
as well as provides us with a fully integrated SIS platform for further
expansion. Many of the Go.edustar customers are already users of our
financial products, and will now benefit from the synergies created by
utilizing a single vendor for their financial, student information and food
service software needs.” stated Jerry Canada, Jr., Harris’ Schools business
unit Vice President. “In addition, we are adding a dedicated and
knowledgeable group of employees to our team.”
