Harris Announces Purchase of
Schoolhouse Software
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – March 10, 2008 –
Harris Computer Systems ("Harris"), a leading provider of financial,
customer and student information management software solutions for
utilities, local governments and schools, today announced that it has
completed the purchase of Schoolhouse Software, Inc. ("Schoolhouse") and its
wholly owned subsidiary KnowledgeCore Software, Inc. (“KnowledgeCore”).
As a result of the purchase, all Schoolhouse and KnowledgeCore customers and
staff will become part of Harris School Solutions, the Harris business unit
focused on delivering mission critical systems to K-12 school districts in
North America. The Schoolhouse and KnowledgeCore staff will continue to
operate from their existing facilities in Sacramento, California.
Harris School Solutions Executive Vice President Jerry Canada stated, "This
acquisition represents a continuation of our strategy to expand our product
offering of software solutions for school districts. Schoolhouse has an
excellent reputation with food service directors and is a leader in back
office administration tools. KnowledgeCore is the leading Adult Education
Student Information System (SIS) in California. The addition of both the
Schoolhouse and KnowledgeCore customer bases allows Harris to immediately
gain a presence in a geographic area where we intend to expand."
“The sale to Harris provides our customers and employees with the resources
to build on the successful foundation we have established over the past 20
years,” said Robert Levine, President and Owner of Schoolhouse. “Harris has
a tremendous opportunity to introduce the Schoolhouse and KnowledgeCore
product lines to their existing 900 school districts and leverage our
customer relationships in several additional geographies.”
